James has always had a passion for health and fitness, so a career in Physiotherapy was the perfect fit.

He qualified with a BSc in Physiotherapy from the University West of England in 2008, and over the past 16 years, has developed a wealth of knowledge, with a strong focus in the area of musculoskeletal physiotherapy. He continues to learn new techniques and is always researching the latest methods to bring about optimal recovery/healing.

He began his career within the NHS’ Orthopaedic and Outpatient Departments but after his increasing potential was seen, he was asked to transition to private practice where he gained 14 years of valuable of knowledge and expertise. He became a director and assisted in setting up a successful private practice in the UK which continues to thrive.

He brings to the table extensive experience working with a variety of well known Hollywood and West End clients including Vanessa Williams, Carlos Acosta and Robbie Fairchild. He has also worked with elite British athletes and body builders. He is keen to apply the skill set he has developed during his career to the variety of patients we see in our clinic. He relishes the challenge of finding the root cause of his patients’ problem and then being able to develop a custom treatment program that is built upon each patient’s unique needs.

James applies a hands on approach to treatment and is trained and certified in dry needling, acupuncture, spinal mobilisations/manipulations, shockwave therapy, massage, and exercise prescription. He is also experienced in vocal massage and hydrotherapy. As well as hands on treatment, he has a particular interest in intensive rehabilitation and enjoys creating individualized programmes for optimized patient development. Not only is James a highly experienced Physiotherapist, but he is also trained and certified in Botox procedures, including Botox to treat excess sweating (hyperhidrosis) as well as using it for anti-wrinkle purposes. James will be offering these procedures here at the clinic so please do get in touch.

Outside of work, James is an avid sportsman and has even represented West England on the water polo team! He was also asked to trial for Great Britain. He enjoys swimming, surfing, and generally being in the great outdoors.

James and his young family have now decided that it is time for a new type of challenge and life experience. This has led to him deciding to continue his profession career in the Cayman Islands. He is eager to apply his wealth of knowledge and physiotherapy skills to our clinic and looks forward to the new challenges that lie ahead in the Cayman Islands.

Naveen Kumar embarked on his journey as a cardiorespiratory physiotherapist in 2014, dedicating a decade to his craft, with specialized expertise in pediatric and cardiac rehabilitation. For five years, he committed himself to pediatric cardiac intensive care at Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences in Bangalore, India, providing individualized care to post-operative cardiac patients.

He completed his Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree in 2010 at Vinayaka Missions College of Physiotherapy under The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai, India. Following this, he pursued a Master of Physiotherapy in Advanced Physiotherapy in Cardio-Respiratory Diseases, graduating in 2013 from KMCH College of Physiotherapy. During his Master's, he conducted research on the impact of aerobic exercise on functional capacity and quality of life in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation therapy, presenting his thesis.

His academic achievements include receiving the Certificate of Academic Excellence for ranking second overall in the Master of Physiotherapy batch of 2011-2013 and the Certificate of Academic Excellence for ranking first overall in Advanced PT in Cardio-Respiratory for the same batch.

In 2017, Naveen relocated to the Cayman Islands and contributed his expertise to the Health City Cayman Islands until April 2024. He actively participated in Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation programs, showcasing his commitment to quality healthcare delivery. With extensive clinical experience, particularly in post-operative rehabilitation for orthopedic and cardiac cases, Naveen has successfully treated numerous patients undergoing knee replacements, hip replacements, ACL repairs, shoulder surgeries, among others. His passion lies in cardiac rehabilitation, where he provides counseling on lifestyle modification and tailored exercise prescriptions for patients undergoing post-PCI interventions.

Naveen joins Physio Worx as their Specialist Cardio-Respiratory Physiotherapist, leading the group cardiac rehabilitation service and expertly managing all the cardio respiratory clients.

Norah Hughes serves as an administrative assistant at Physio Worx, where her meticulous attention to detail ensures smooth operations. Driven by a passion for healthcare, she is actively working towards a transition into a more hands-on role in the industry. With a commitment to personal development and community wellness initiatives, Norah is dedicated to making a meaningful impact in healthcare.

Meet Josannah, an aspiring nurse with a strong passion for health and wellness. Fondly referred to as Josie by the community, she holds an Associate’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science from the College of Southern Maryland. Currently, she is dedicatedly pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at the Ruth Eleanor McLaughlin School of Nursing at UCCI with an expected graduation date of July 2024. Josie has been actively engaged in physiotherapy clinics since 2018 and finds fulfillment in her patient-facing role.

Regarding her career aspirations, Josie expresses her enthusiasm for working with medically complex rehabilitation patients. She aims to integrate her experiences from acute hospital settings in Cayman with the outpatient and community services provided by Physio Worx.

Jen qualified as a physiotherapist with first class honours in 2012 at Salford University, England. She then elected to complete a Post Graduate Certificate in Allied Health alongside NHS Junior rotations in all key clinical areas.

She progressed to work at a senior level in musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory and neurological therapy services, completing her senior II rotations and training. She then worked as an Advanced Physiotherapist for two years, managing large teams and multiple services.

Thought her career, she has found interest in treating some of the more challenging cases, with a passion for complex care planning, management of long term conditions and patient centred care. She studied clinical research at Masters level at Keel university and her clinical treatment is always informed by evidence based practice.

Jen has extensive experience in treating connective tissue disorders, especially hypermobility conditions. She is also deeply interested in persistent (chronic) pain management. In addition to her musculoskeletal skills Jen has wide ranging experience of vestibular, neurological and spinal rehabilitation for both adults and children.

During her time in cayman she has worked closely with the local community, creating strong links with government health facilities and specialist physicians. During 2020, whilst the island was still locked down to visitors, Jen pioneered a specialist outreach service for the people of Cayman Brac, at some times travelling over multiple days per week in order to provide quality therapy services. She has lived on Cayman since 2017 and founded Physio Worx in 2023 after identifying the need for a bespoke clinic focussed on accessibility, patient centred care and quality evidence based rehabilitation.

As clinical manager and lead physiotherapist, Jen's vision is to offer a welcoming, quality and accessible service for the people of the Cayman Islands. She is a qualified technical diver, diver master and dog lover, although these days if she isn't working she's most often found at home enjoying family life and the beautiful Cayman Islands.

Jeanne has over 16 years experience of working in private practice settings implementing individualised exercise and rehabilitation programmes for clients. She treats a complex variety of conditions ranging from sports injuries to physical, neurological and developmental disorders. Her clients consist of paediatric, adult, geriatric and high performance athletes.

Jeanne has a special interest in hand therapy, having experience of working in a dedicated hand therapy clinic. She is also trained in musculoskeletal acupuncture and uses this alongside her extensive manual therapy skills to complement functional rehabilitation.

When asked, Jeanne says “ I chose physiotherapy as my profession because I am continually amazed at how the human body works and functions. Each client brings a new challenge and requires difference problem solving tools to make their treatment successful. It is so gratifying to take part in helping others restore movement and function when they thought it was not possible, or would be too difficult to achieve”.

For her own physical therapy, Jeanne enjoys Yoga, Pilates, F45 and her own personalised mix of work outs at the gym.

Summer is currently completing her final year of BSc Physiotherapy at University of Gloucestershire and will be qualified in July 2024. She was born and raised in Cayman, and was a competitive swimmer for years. Her time spent swimming is what initiated her interest in the field of physiotherapy, as she endured various injuries. Due to this interest, Summer completed work experience with Jen in clinic and community-based settings from the age of 16 to 18 years old, and continued this on her university holiday breaks

As a part of the degree, she has completed 5 clinical placements and will be completing her final student placement in April 2024. To date Summer has thoroughly enjoyed all of her placements and has had a wide variety of exposure to different areas including: brain injury, medicine wards, inpatient rehab, and palliative/end of life care in a hospice setting. These placements have exposed her to cardiorespiratory patients, geriatrics, patients with communication difficulties and neurological impairments.

Summer has a very strong interest in chronic pain management and how our role as physiotherapists can massively improve patient’s quality of life. She is especially interested in chronic pain in the paediatric population, which has inspired her dissertation topic choice.

Summer is hoping to begin her junior rotations covering all key areas of physiotherapy after she qualifies to gain more experience before returning home. She especially hopes to increase her knowledge in the areas of paediatrics and complex pain management during this period.

In her spare time, Summer loves scuba diving as well as underwater photography, and spending time at home in the Cayman Islands with family and friends

Jemimah, a qualified physiotherapist since 2014, has primarily practiced in acute hospital settings, gaining experience across all key clinical areas including outpatients, critical care, paediatrics, and medical and surgical wards. Her focus lies in developing and implementing treatment plans for pre- and post-operative patients, encompassing Orthopaedics, Cardio-respiratory, Neuro-surgery, and General surgery conditions. Beyond surgical cases, she also specializes in Respiratory, Neurology, Acute Trauma, Musculoskeletal, and Pain Management for acute and chronic conditions in paediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.

In 2018, she relocated to Grand Cayman to join the team at Health City Cayman Islands, where she assumed a senior role providing on-call respiratory support for both paediatric and adult critical care patients. Now, she brings her wealth of experience to Physio Worx, bolstering our acute hospital team and contributing to our musculoskeletal and neurological outpatients department. Jemimah's extensive expertise in working with diverse medical conditions, often in challenging circumstances, equips her to provide exceptional care across a range of medical services.

Jemimah says: "I am passionate about pursuing a career in Physiotherapy because I believe in the profound impact it can have on improving the lives of patients. The gratifying result of helping individuals regain their optimal physical function is what drives my dedication to this profession. Through my commitment to providing compassionate care and evidence-based treatments, I aim to make a positive difference in the lives of those in need of physical rehabilitation."

Fueled by a lifelong passion for sports and a desire to help others achieve their physical best, Shante is on the path to perusing a career in Physical Therapy. Currently immersed in my Bachelor of Health Science with a concentration in biological science at the University of South Florida, she is delving deep into the intricacies of the human body and its biological mechanisms. Set to graduate in the fall of 2024, Shante is laying the foundation for her future in healthcare.

Shante says "I'm looking forward to the next chapter of my academic journey with great anticipation. I'm eager to start my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in fall 2025. I plan to combine my educational background with practical experience to become an expert and caring medical professional.

With a firm academic foundation, a passion for sports, and a steadfast commitment to helping others, I am prepared to embark on this rewarding path towards becoming a compassionate and skilled physiotherapist."
